Book presentation and concert:
21. february 2012, 18.00-22.00, ARchENA

Architect Boa Baumann and percussionist Fritz Hauser have been inspiring each other for over 20 years, creating works which link architecture and music together in an animated dialogue that transcends the boundaries of genre. The two artists respond acoustically to the conditions and moods of spaces that, like architecture in general, tend to be perceived by the eye. Their collaboration thus adds an audible dimension to the visual experience.
A four-day installation in the ARchENA offers an impression of the duo’s joint work. Images from “Architektur Musik ” (published by Niggli Verlag) are projected into the space, providing a visual underpinning for the presentation. The book traces the friendship between the two
artists and presents their collaboration against this backdrop – an oeuvre that ranges from bold restorations of castles to contemporary new builds and multifaceted stage work. It reveals the common ground between architecture and music: rhythm, precision and proportions are
central elements of both art forms.
A live concert by Fritz Hauser on 21 February 2012 complements the installation. Gentle distractions, sounds, notes and tonal structures create an acoustic space of their own, into which listeners are invited to immerse themselves. The concert will be preceded by a book presentation by the publisher Hubertus Adam. The book is available from Niggli Verlag.
