Date : Tuesday, 19. April 2011 to Thursday, 30. June 2011 Mo-Fr 8-22, closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
Location : ARchENA, HIL, Hönggerberg, ETH Zürich
Opening: Monday, 18 April 2011, 6 p.m.
Architect Renato Salvi from the Canton of Jura is active in a field that includes public structures, residential buildings, and civil engineering structures along the A16 Autobahn. He has been involved with works on the “Transjurane” Autobahn for more than twenty years. Salvi, an
ETH graduate, has had his own office in Delémont since 1998.
Building in peripheral locations is characteristic of the office. Despite what are often limited means, an attempt is made to bring out the best from the location and develop constructive solutions that correspond with local know-how and culture. The vocabulary thus developed is
sculptural, with particular attention to the quality of the captured light. From inside, views focus on the landscape, and from outside, a strong expression is intended.
The buildings extending along the A16 became more volumetric over the course of time, fundamentally linked to the search for a formal connection. They are not meant as a sequence, but rather, as a Gesamtwerk tightly bound to the landscape.
The exhibition offers an overview of the structures along the A16 Autobahn. Also presented are various private homes. Special emphasis is given to the project Villa Montavon in Porrentruy. The accompanying publication is available for the duration of the exhibition at the gta Institute.
