Engagement with the urban context plays a central role in the work of Daniel Buchner and Andreas Bründler. Their architectural concepts are continually refined through ongoing research and experimentation with forms and materials. This is reflected both in their projects, which are individually formulated and executed in close dialogue with clients and future users, and in their intense preoccupation with the architectural agenda.
The exhibition “Buchner Bründler Bauten” in the main hall of the ETH Zurich is the Basel-based firm’s first major solo presentation, and uses large-scale architectural models to elucidate their striking spatial compositions. The exhibition focuses on Buchner Bründler’s construction projects, which form the core of their design activities. The models are carefully crafted miniatures of the final buildings, created using the same production processes. The emphasis on the concept renders them artefacts with their own reality; yet they retain their direct link to the project concerned, replicating its essence in concentrated form.
