The exhibition “Umsicht Regards Sguardi 2011” presents projects intended as models of the sustainable design of living space, submitted for the national award of the same name handed out by the Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects (SIA), at which competition the
works on display either won prizes or were given honourable mention. The 15-member jury comprised renowned figures from the worlds of architecture, engineering, urban planning, zoning, research, sustainability, the media, politics and economics. A total of six submissions
were awarded prizes, and two honourable mention.
The eight exemplary solutions prove that sustainable – that is, prudent, future-oriented – concrete ideas can be successfully implemented today. Following in the footsteps of its first award in 2006/07, the SIA once again shows extraordinary accomplishments in the form of
realized projects to the professional world and an interested general public, thus setting standards of quality for investments that either directly or indirectly shape our built environment or encourage its sustainable use. The projects shown are documented in plans, texts and films as well as pictures by acclaimed art photographer Jules Spinatsch.
The awards ceremony will take place on the same day as the exhibition vernissage. The show will then go on in 2011 to travel throughout Switzerland and, in 2012, to neighbouring countries.
