Central area planning for ‘socialist cities’ in the USSR and GDR in the 1960s focused mainly on the implementation of mobility. The project examines this concept in architecture and planning theory from 1955 to 1971 and it investigates the term mobility in various disciplines and analyses competitions for central area planning. The results of this fundamental research will be presented in lectures and a published essay, and which will contribute to the filing of a SNF application in 2009.
