Alessandra Ponte is professeure agrégée, École d’architecture, Université de Montréal, and has taught history and theory of architecture and landscape at Pratt Institute in New York, Princeton University, Cornell University and the Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice (IUAV). She has written articles and essays in numerous international publications, published books on Richard Payne Knight and the eighteenth-century picturesque and co-edited, with Antoine Picon, a collection of essays, Architecture and the Sciences (2003). She is currently completing research on the American desert and preparing an exhibition for the Canadian Centre for Architecture titled ‘Total Environment: Montreal 1965–1975’ (March 2009).
