History and Theory of Architecture IV

Lecture History and Theory of Architecture IV (052-0806)
Organizer: Chair of Prof. Stalder
Lecturers: Prof. Dr. Laurent Stalder, Tobias Erb, Mélissa Vrolixs
Time: Thursdays 12.45–14.30
Location: HPV G 4

The subject of this ongoing, two-semester lecture course is the history and theory of architecture from the second half of the nineteenth century until today. Based on individual buildings, writings and exhibitions set in the context of changing social and technological conditions, this course illustrates architectural positions that were decisive at their time. The goal is to learn about the relationship between exemplary architectural and discursive practices in their historical depth and ideological breadth, and to make that relationship fruitful for contemporary architecture.
