The City Represented: Visions of Urban Living

Seminar (052-0828-20)
Organizer: Chair of Prof. Avermaete
Lecturers: Dr. Cathelijne Nuijsink
Time: Spring 2020, Thursdays, 3-5 pm
Location: HPT C 103

This seminar focuses on a long-running international housing ideas competition from Japan and sets out to identify key topics in architecture culture. In ten sessions, we will carefully examine the competition materials of selected editions of the Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition (1965-2019), complement the analysis with additional research findings, and map the complexity of knowledge exchange taking place within these editions. As such, this seminar will not only enable students to situate local debates in global narratives, but it will also offer students insights into new, cross-cultural perspectives on ‘housing the urbanite’.
