Kiosk Madame ETH
The Kiosk Madame ETH, run by Alicia Ayla Yerebakan, will be used as a library and bookstore from March 15, 2022 onward. Originally designed by Sasa J. Mächtig as Kiosk K67, it now draws together past and ongoing works by gta exhibitions and simultaneously offers a space for future projects.
The books in the kiosk complement the current gta exhibitions program. To mark the opening of the kiosk, we’ve already worked with various book lovers in order to enlarge and diversify the stock of the bookstore.
For the exhibition Life, Without Buildings, curated by Adam Szymczyk, we’ve availed ourselves of his and Elena Bally’s help to put together a great selection of books. This way anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the exhibition can find additional resources in the bookstore.
For those books written by women, Women Writing Architecture regularly provides us with bookmarks with comments by various readers. They serve, so to say, as signposts in case someone doesn’t precisely know which book to choose. They are immediately recognizable by their vivid green color.
At the end of March 2022, Querformat curated the exhibition Cabin Crew in the HIL Foyer, of which the kiosk itself is a part. Accordingly, Querformat has compiled a list of books for us that are already available in the kiosk.
Altogether, the kiosk occupies a central place in the happenings at ETH Hönggerberg and is intended as a locus where people can exchange ideas and interact, learn more, but also be for themselves.
We look forward to further inputs, exciting collaborations, and to each and every visitor.
