New Monte Rosa Hut SAC Hönggerberg

Organizer: gta Exhibitions
Date: Sunday, 25 April 2010 to Friday, 4 June 2010

The New Monte Rosa Hut SAC at a height of 2883 metres, located near Zermatt, was built and opened in September 2009. The sustainable building was developed in collaboration with the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) and numerous professionals. The result is an extraordinary piece of architecture with integrated solutions for energy and water balance. The sustainable building covers at least ninety per cent of its own energy demand. Exemplary solutions were found for topical issues related to supply and disposal.

The exhibition in the container has been presented at the Swissbau Basel yet. The exhibition presents a model of the hut on a scale of 1:50 and documents the project. It examines the planning and construction process, explains the underlying architectural and technological concept, and conveys an impression of the implemented building as a total system.

An exhibition by the Institute gta in collaboration with the ETH-Studio Monte Rosa, Faculty of Architecture and ETH Science City
